Coventry Pride is a registered charity, which relies entirely on donations, grants and community volunteers. Our core aim is to promote equality, diversity and advances in education, in order to eliminate discrimination against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and others (LGBT+) Community.

Every year, Coventry plays host to our annual Pride event. In 2019, Coventry Pride attracted 88,000 people to the city centre across the festival weekend. We’ve gone from strength-to-strength since our inception in 2015. We now host events almost every week of the year, running support groups for our LGBT+ community and promoting local LGBT+ initiatives, businesses and fundraisers.

We help to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues by promoting and staging events, taking part in campaigning and participating in commentary within the media, and providing support to other LGBT+ charities and voluntary organisations. We also promote the provision of information, advice and support that celebrate LGBT+ lives and history. We aim for Coventry to be a place where everybody knows that the diversity offered by the LGBT+ community is something to be celebrated and in which LGBT+ people can feel safe, welcomed and accepted.

We believe that inclusiveness improves self-esteem and provides a sense of belonging, which helps to diminish the psychological effects of discrimination faced by individuals in daily life.

Volunteers make it happen

If it wasn’t for our amazing volunteers, Coventry Pride wouldn’t happen. We’re always on the look-out for enthusiastic individuals who’d love to be part of Coventry Pride in our various available roles.
