The LGBT+ community often feels excluded from traditional activities in which other members of society thrive. Team sports is one of those things, many players feel nervous to approach a team and just start playing without any knowledge and with the issue of having to come out to a whole new environment without knowing whether they’ll be accepted.
Here’s where teams like Coventry Corsairs come to stage. Announcing themselves as fully inclusive they welcome everyone to join. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a man, a woman, transgender, gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual.
As long as you want to play rugby you have a place to go. And rugby takes it one step further. There’s a place for everyone as a team consists in 15 different positions that will guarantee you fall right into place.
With all the good reception three Corsairs had in Coventry it was only natural that the girls wanted their own team. That’s when Jade comes into play.
There ain’t many ladies teams local and I think its important to get womens rugby out there. So I thought why not put one together…Jade Thompson, Coventry Corsairs RFC Ladies Team
It has only been a few months since Coventry Corsairs RFC started but in that short period of time we have continued to grow and progress with great achievements along the way. We are thrilled to be able to add another team to our family.
Training for the Ladies Team will start on Tuesday January 7th at 7pm. The team will meet at Coventrians RFC, The Black Pad, Holbrooks, Coventry CV6 4AF.
The Coventry Corsairs RFC is a fully inclusive rugby club which means everyone is welcome in any of our teams. It does not matter whether you have previous playing experience or what your physical fitness level is. Our approach is one of support and encouragement to enable you to reach your full potential
